Our dad was a true family man. He always wanted to help yet never interfered, he was always the voice of reason and showed so much love for his family. We all miss him enormously.
He trained as an engineer and was very successful in his field but re-trained as a teacher when we were young so he could spend more time with us. He specialised in maths and physics and earned the respect of the boys he taught. He dedicated his time after-school too, running clubs in electronics and archery.
We were all devastated when he was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus and though he was determined to fight it he wasn't able to eat and grew very weak. During his last months he took the whole family to Disney and really enjoyed watching the excited faces of all his grandchildren who loved him dearly. He also got his last wish of taking my mum on a cruise but sadly spent most of the time in the ship's hospital and died shortly after they returned home.
We were with him when he died and it was relief when the suffering finally stopped, but we all miss him every day.
